Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has signed a new deal with the world’s largest music company, Universal Music Group.
According to reliable sources, the Ghanaian dancehall artiste confirmed the news on twitter. This left many Ghanaians speculating that his deal with the Zylofon Media was over although the artiste in his tweet stated that he was still with Zylofon Music.
His new deal with the world’s largest music company, makes him the second Ghana-based artiste after Singer and Song writer, Cina Soul to be signed by.
The label will market, promote and distribute the works of the B.H.I.M nation president globally.
The Nigerian veteran Music Executive, Ezegozie Eze Jnr. will head the team, under the supervision of Sipho Dlamini, managing director of Universal Music South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Eze stated that the launch of the company was a “huge statement of belief in our local music talent” and its “ambition to help our artists reach the widest global audience.”
“Epistles of Mama”, his 2017 award-winning album, was at number 13 on the Billboard World Charts. This makes it the first album by a Ghana-based Ghanaian artiste to achieve that record based on sales.
Stonebwoy became the second Ghanaian Grammy nominee after an album he was featured on earned a nomination at the 2018 Grammys.
The B.H.I.M president also featured on ‘Reggae Night (GlobalRemix) off the album released on May 19, 2017 and later joined the group during their Europe Tour in 2015.
He also was the only Ghanaian and African artiste to perform at the 2018 SummerJam which is an European Reggae and Dancehall festival.
